Ingredient Indulge: Lavender

12 Jun

Lavender is just one of the essential oils we use in our body care products.

It is one of the most popular, versatile and widely used essential oil. It comes from a perennial, bushy shrub and purple, violet, blue spiky flowers. Oils from the flowers are extracted by steam-distillation from the countries of France, Bulgaria and Tasmania.

Lavender is considered to be analgesic, antidepressant, decongestant, deodorant, sedative and tonic. It can have soothing, calming, balancing effects. Lavender can help with mood swings and PMS and can also be used to facilitate meditation. It is also one of the best oils to use for cleaning. Try this recipe below for fresh linens:

Lavender Linen Spray

  1. ½ cup distilled water
  2. 1 teaspoon of vodka or witch hazel.
  3. 5 to 6 drops of lavender essential oils.
  4. Spray bottle

Mix together all the ingredients and pour into a spray bottle or glass container with a tight fitting lid.

To use: Spray on sheets and table linens before using or while when pressing with a hot iron.
